For over a thousand years handmade paper has been produced in the mountains of Nepal. The raw material used is the bark of the Daphne Cannabina, or Daphne Papyracea bush, locally known as 'Lokta'. The bark is gathered at high altitudes of 6500 to 9500 feet and carried down to villages where local paper makers clean it and turn it into this wonderful eco-friendly paper.
After harvesting the lokta bush naturally regenerates as the plant is always cut above the root, preserving the fragile forest ecology of Nepal.
Lovely writing set that comes in a folder that can be used again and again. Folder is made from hardwearing textured lokta card with three internal pockets and a A4 pad holder. It is blanket stiched around the outside with lokta paper thread.
Inside you will find an A4 lokta paper writing pad with cover and thirty pages of pure lokta handmade paper. There are also five long envelopes and ten A4 sheets of writing paper.
Comes in purple, gold, light green, dark green, red, turquoise and dark blue.
This is an amazing set for an amazing price.
