For over a thousand years handmade paper has been produced in the mountains of Nepal. The raw material used is the bark of the Daphne Cannabina, or Daphne Papyracea bush, locally known as 'Lokta'. The bark is gathered at high altitudes of 6500 to 9500 feet and carried down to villages where local paper makers clean it and turn it into this wonderful eco-friendly paper.
After harvesting the lokta bush naturally regenerates as the plant is always cut above the root, preserving the fragile forest ecology of Nepal.
This writing set has ten long envelopes and twenty sheets of writing paper all in natural lokta colour. The wallet is made from crinkle-effect strong paper and secured with two round wodden buttons and thread.
Perfect as a gift or for yourself, you will be delighted with the quality of this lovely paper.
Available in brown, yellow and green.
